The committee is committed to equipping engineers with the tools and ethical framework necessary to lead the digital transformation of infrastructure. Through innovation, education, and global collaboration, CIC strengthens engineering’s contribution to building resilient, connected, and inclusive societies in line with WFEO and UN values.

The Iraqi Engineers’ Union serves as the host of the Committee on Engineering for Information & Communication from 2024 to 2027.
Mission Statement
The WFEO Committee on Information and Communication (CIC) is committed to advancing the global engineering community through effective communication, information dissemination, and technological innovation.
Over the next four years, our strategic focus will be on promoting sustainable development, fostering collaboration, and enhancing the visibility and impact of WFEO and its member organizations.
Vision
To be the leading force in leveraging information and communication technologies for the betterment of the global engineering community, contributing significantly to the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Strategic Objectives
- Enhance Communication Platforms: Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to enhance engagement with WFEO members and the broader engineering community.
- Capacity Building: Organize workshops and training programs to enhance the digital literacy and communication skills of engineers worldwide, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Global Outreach: Establish partnerships with international engineering organizations, institutions, and industry leaders to amplify the impact of WFEO’s initiatives.
- Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices through the organization of conferences, webinars, and publications, with a focus on sustainable engineering solutions.

Alignment with UN SDGs
The IEU Strategic Plan aligns primarily with UN Sustainable Development Goal focus on SDG9 “Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation”, By fostering effective communication, knowledge exchange, and collaboration in engineering, we aim to contribute significantly to achieving SDG9.
Haider Ali Al-Roufaie, Chair of CIC
Haider Ali Al-Roufaie is a results-oriented IT professional and Telecommunication with over a decade of experience in leadership and project management roles.
Proven success in driving team productivity, delivering complex IT and Telecommunication projects on time and within budget, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance organizational efficiency.
Adept at leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration, and implementing best practices to achieve business objectives.
Strong technical acumen combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Committed to continuous improvement and staying abreast of emerging technologies to drive innovation and success in dynamic IT environments.
Haider Ali Al-Roufaie succeeded Wael Abdulmajeed as chair of the committee at the FMO general assembly which took place in Shanghai on October 2025.
